AGE Developments have introduced a new deep bore video inspection system capable of returning crisp, clear, real-time video pictures from bore holes from 3" to 30" in diameter and up to 1800 meters deep.

The down-hole system comprises a highly sensitive colour video camera system run on a fibre optic cable to give unmatched digital image quality regardless of depth. The cable winch and surface control modules are housed in a purpose made cabin mounted on a 4 wheel drive truck. Features include a crane to provide flexible access to bore holes and a built in diesel powered generator to ensure adequate stand-alone operation.

The control and monitoring system offers dual, large screen, colour monitors, dual video recorders, text overlay capability with depth shown on screen at all times. It also includes a colour video screen printer that provides the ability to take photo quality "snap shots" of interesting details during an inspection run.

Use of this deep hole video inspection system eliminates the guesswork in determining the cause of lost production or declining water levels in wells. Results of jetting or other cleaning programs can be objectively assessed. Before and after inspections enable the evaluation of competitive treatment strategies enabling the most cost effective choice to be made.

It is an invaluable aid on "fishing" jobs - the drillers dream of actually seeing the "fish" comes true! It can also be used to provide a permanent video record of newly drilled wells for use in preventative maintenance programs, to verify contracted well construction, etc.

In open-hole applications, video inspection enables examination of stratification, faults, fractures, joints, fissures and drilling wash-outs as well as areas of high water production. In cased hole situations, areas of sand infiltration, screen encrustation and clogging and casing breaks, holes, etc, are readily identified.
