Casing One-Shot Grouting Packer

The AGE One-Shot Casing Grout Packer has been specifically designed to abolish the need for drill-out inside fibreglass casing, as this will often lead to rotational damage on the bore casing walls from rotation and tripping in/out of the drill string from within the bore during construction.

We have encountered many newly installed water bores that have required repair to the damaged fibreglass (FRP) casing before commissioning as a result of this scenario taking place. The system also has the advantage of lower drilling costs due to the reduced bore hole size needed to install the same size screens using conventional telescoped screen bore construction methods. It also means less tripping of rods in and out of the hole as there is a single drilled bore hole size for both casing and screens.

The system is installed by running the packer in-line between the screens and the casing as a single string. When at depth, a grout stinger is run in on the end of the drill string, lands and seals on a slight diameter reduction in the packer assembly creating a sealed path from the string into the packer. Inflation water is pumped via the drill string into the packer to inflate and seal into the open hole. All inflation water is held in place by an integral check valve arrangement.

The inflation pressure is then raised to a pre-nominated pressure at which point the ports in the grout stinger will divert from packer inflation to direct pumped fluid to the grout ports. Grout is then pumped through the rod string until returns are observed at the surface. Again, all pumped fluids are retained by a check valve once it has passed through the grout ports. Upon grout completion, the grout stinger can be unstabbed and circulated to de-mud the bore casing before drill rods are removed. There is no need for drill out – once the stinger is removed, the water bore is complete.

Water bore installation and grouting using the AGE One-Shot Casing Grout Packers has become increasingly popular due to the simplification of the drilling program, and the greater flexibility in casing size and materials to achieve the required production from your bore whilst negating casing damage during the construction phase. The system has been deployed to depths in excess of 1000m and for casing sizes up to 8” in diameter.
